Doris Linnea Larson

Doris Linnea Larson was born on June 23, 1943, in Seattle, Washington, to Henry K. Larson and Doris P. Larson. She passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 83. Doris, “Dorie”, was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, loyal friend, and woman of faith whose kindness and warmth touched those around her.

Dorie was raised on Bainbridge Island and enjoyed a childhood along the shores of Point White and Fay Bainbridge, affectionately known as "the Sandspit." Her father, Henry, owned Bainbridge Island Lumber, the island's first lumber company.

Dorie was a talented musician and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1961 and married her high school sweetheart, James Quistorff. Together they welcomed five children. Because of James's career as a pilot, the family had the opportunity to travel extensively and live in various places around the world, experiences that gave Dorie a lifetime of stories and adventures to share with anyone who would listen.

In 1983, Dorie moved back to Bainbridge with her 5 children. In order to support her family, she worked as a secretary for a variety of companies and public agencies. Her work varied from the Port Townsend Paper Corporation, Screen Communications, and The Island School. After raising all of her children, she moved to Olympia and worked in the office of her longtime friend Ralph Munro as an Executive Secretary during his tenure as Secretary of State. She eventually moved to Shoreline, where she finished her career at the Department of Transportation in 2015.

During retirement, she loved traveling in support of her wellness company, loved ballroom dancing, and spending time with her family.

Dorie was known as a woman of deep faith. Throughout her life, she found hope and comfort in the promises of Christ. She loved singing in the Billy Graham crusades and studying God’s word in Bible Study Fellowship. Dorie passed on her faith to children who now take comfort in the words of her favorite Hymn, “I’ll love thee in life, I will love thee in death; and praise thee as long as thou lendest me breath; and say, when the death-dew lies cold on my brow: if ever I loved thee, my Jesus ‘tis now:” My Jesus, I Love thee.

She will be forever loved, always remembered, and deeply missed.

Dorie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry K. and Doris P. Larson, and by her sisters, Linda Orr and Joyce Aronson.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Henry (Judy) Larson; her five children: James (Audrey) Quistorff, Patricia Quistorff Paine, Stephanie (Edward) Gonzales, Sarah Quistorff, and Michelle (Garett) Buckingham; and her fourteen grandchildren: Payton Quistorff, Solana Quistorff, Jesse Quistorff, Kyra Paine, Miles Gonzales, Jack Gonzales, Samuel Gonzales, Savannah Buckingham, William Buckingham, Trudie Buckingham, Judson Buckingham, Muriel Buckingham, Katherine Buckingham, and Gloria Buckingham, affectionately known to Dorie as "the Caboose."

A graveside service will take place at 1:00 pm August 1, 2026 at Port Blakely Cemetery 4375 Old Mill Rd NE Bainbridge Island, WA 98110.
