Marjorie Lynn Dir

Marjorie "Margie" Lynn Dir (née Hoover), 75, of Bainbridge Island, Washington, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, in Silverdale, Washington, following a stroke. Surrounded by her family, she went home to be with the Lord.

Margie was born on February 14, 1951, in Pasadena, California, to David and Sara (Martin) Hoover. She spent much of her early life in Visalia, California, before moving north to Seattle, Washington, and eventually settling on Bainbridge Island.

Margie loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid reader, especially of her Bible and books on healthy living, and had a gift for encouraging everyone around her and making them feel loved and supported. She was passionate about helping those who had suffered abuse and domestic violence, and she found deep joy in old Gospel hymns, a love she shared with her father and her son, both singers. Her favorite artist was Squire Parsons, and she loved to talk about the way he shaped a note, especially in "Sweet Beulah Land." She treasured family trips — Hawaii among her favorites — family reunions, and a good game night with the people she loved. Those who knew her remember her as kind, a wonderful listener, genuinely curious about how you were really doing. She was also a very detailed and organized person, the kind who kept everyone else on track.

Margie was an active member of her church, and in her final days she looked forward to going home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Beulah Land.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Sara Hoover; her niece, Catherine Hoover; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her son, Shane Dir, and daughter-in-law, Katie Dir; her grandchildren, Ariana and Elijah Dir; and a large and loving extended family, including Nina Hoover, John and Rosalie Hoover, Jenny Hoover, and Midge Hoover.

A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
