passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Island Health and Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She was born on June 24, 1925 in Lima-Peru. She was 86 years of age.Aida lived in Peru for 50 years, Miami, Florida for 35 years and Bainbridge Island for one year. Aida received the Nurse Aid by the Red Cross and was also the third place winner in the Peruvian Women's Fencing in 1950.She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and crochet. She loved to have afternoon tea with her friends or family. She loved to play cards after dinner. In her youth she was quite the athlete. She played tennis, competing at national levels, and this is where she met her husband John. She also did fencing, swimming and rode horses. Aida loved arts and crafts and reading.She was the last of eight siblings and was the last to pass away. Aida is survived by her husband John P. Ruiz, daughter M. Rossana Muir (B. Shawn), and grandchildren Sara E. and Catherine E. Muir all of Bainbridge Island. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in the United States, Peru, Venezuela, Canada and Spain.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Mass on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:30 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow at the St. Monica's Room at the church. Please sign the online Guest Book for the family.
