of Bainbridge Island, died peacefully in his sleep July 31st at Messenger House Care Center after a lengthy bout with dementia. He was 69. He was born in Seattle to Burns and Esther McCoskrie who soon moved to Bainbridge Island where he grew up and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1958. He spent four years in the Navy serving on the USS Laws out of San Francisco, CA. Upon returning home, he worked in Bainbridge Floor coverings, the business his father founded in 1955. In later years he worked as an Electrician for Todd Shipyard in Seattle and also in shipyards in Oakland, California. Allan touched the lives of many individuals and friends through his years as a mentor with Alcoholics Anonymous. He was dry for 28 years and was a source of inspiration to many. He is survived by his son, Richard Allan McCoskrie of Poulsbo; sister Gloria Kirkpatrick of Arlington, TX, sister Marie Justice of Bellevue and his granddaughter Tricia McCoskrie. His family wishes to express their appreciation for the loving care he received at Messenger House Care Center. A Memorial Service will be held at the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church on Saturday, Sept 12th at 1:00 pm (See map below).In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
