Cecilia Anita Storey

died November 2nd, at age 92, surrounded by her five children. She was born in Salem, OR and grew up in Woodburn, OR.When a sibling mispronounced her name as "Sudie" the moniker stuck with her throughout her life. Sudie attended St. Joseph's Nursing School in Vancouver, WA and received her RN certificate in 1939. In a long career she worked at Swedish Hospital in pediatrics for many years.In 1941 while attending a dance at the Trianon Ballroom in Seattle she met her future husband, Myron "Mike" Storey. Their marriage lasted 56 years, until his death in 1997, and produced five children, 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Sudie was a lifelong Democrat. Whenever she met someone new, her first question would be "What are you, a Democrat or a Republican?" She was partisan, but civil. Sudie loved shopping at the thrift stores and then playing the slots at the casinos. Her interests included travel, gardening, cooking and reading. She loved a good lobster, geoduck steak and PHO noodles. She was a social person who enjoyed meeting new friends. She volunteered at the Bainbridge Island Senior Center. Sudie lived in many places, including Alki Point, Grosvenor House in Seattle, Sequim and finally at Winslow Manor on Bainbridge Island.Sudie will be remembered for her positive outlook and giving spirit. She is much loved and missed by her family and close friends.Sudie is survived by her children Susan Harader (Allen), Paul Story (Robin), Kitt Mathisen (Larry), Russell Storey (Sherry), Casey Gouevia (Mark) and her sister, Heinretta Seely of Canby, OR.A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 13th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 1310 Madison Avenue, Bainbridge Island, WA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the Internment Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Seattle, WA.In lieu of flowers donations may be made for Cecilia - an avid animal lover - to PAWS of Bainbridge Island, P.O.
