born March 9, 1947 in Indianapolis, IN suddenly passed away July 9, 2007 on Bainbridge Island, WA.He attended school in Phoenix, AZ. David was a first class ham radio operator while in high school and tutored others in that field. His passion was electronics. He was taking classes at Phoenix College when he was called to active duty in the Navy. After serving two tours in Vietnam as an electronics technician, he returned to Arizona where he attended Arizona State University and graduated as an electrical engineer. He worked at Motorola for several years before working for Maricopa County assigning frequencies for emergency vehicles. He founded GHZ Electronics and was called the Father of Satellite TV for inventing the 8 ft satellite TV system.He briefly taught electronics at Phoenix College. He was an avid gardener, K7OMA ham radio operator, country music fan and a devoted father.Survivors include his son Michael Barker, mother Barbara Parham, brothers Donald Barker and Daniel Barker, sister Darlene (Markle) Spreier and his ex-wife Michiko Chinen.Remembrances and Celebrations of his Life will be held on Bainbridge Island, WA on Sunday, 7-22-07 and in Phoenix, AZ sometime during the weekend of 8-11-07. This Sunday's service will be held at 3:00 PM at the Winslow Co-housing (map).Arrangements through Cook Family Funeral Home.
