Delilah Francine Atwood

December 4, 1950 — August 28, 2019

Delilah Atwood, 68, of Bainbridge Island and formerly of the Queen Ann section of Seattle passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 28, 2019 at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Wa. Born in Sitka, Alaska she was the daughter of Tommy Joseph, Sr., and Rachel Janet (Johnson) Jimmy.

After her graduation from high school, Delilah decided to further her education and attended beauty school where she learned to be a Barber. After her graduation, she put her skills to good use and owned and operated her own Barber Shops for over 40 years. She would often talk about how she enjoyed having some champagne at the shop after hours while sitting and talking with others after a hard days work.

Delilah was known for her "Happy" personality and her smile which was described as "lighting up a room". She was also known for her positive attitude described as her "light up the world" view on life even while she was battling her cancer .

During her marriage to her late husband Dan, Delilah lived in Kansas City and Boise Idaho for several years before finally moving to Seattle and ultimately to Bainbridge Island, Wa. which she loved. She especially enjoyed living at Winslow Arms where she had many friends. She also enjoyed fishing at Port Blakely and the Point White dock here on the Island.

Delilah was a member of the Tlingit Tribe and was very proud of her Native Heritage. She would often speak of how her mother would make her shoes and mittens from seal skin as a child, the blueberry picking adventures in the mountains with family, and the stories of men carving Totem Poles in the village while the girls would paint them. She herself was a very good artist and enjoyed drawing and painting.

A true "girlie girl" as she was known by her beloved partner Neal, Delilah looked forward to Friday night date nights and would often spend the whole day getting ready and ensuring not a single hair was out of place before leaving the house.

Delilah had a personality that was unforgettable and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her especially her family Kathleen Brizina of Juneau, Alaska, Tina Culleeny of Bainbridge Island, Harry R. Jackson of Anchorage, Alaska, Peter C. Johnson, Jr. of Arizona, Dale Johnson of Florida and Julia Johnson of Anchorage, Alaska and her loving partner Neal Loria of Bainbridge Island.
