passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 surrounded by family at his home on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was born on November 9, 1917 in Seattle, Washington and was 97 years of age.Edgar grew up in Cashmere, Washington and graduated from Cashmere High School in 1935. He moved back to Seattle, lived with his grandparents and worked for West Coast Wood Preserving Co. as a bookkeeper. Edgar served during World War II arriving in France D-Day plus 30. Upon his return he went back to work for the Wyckoff Company (formally West Coast Wood) from which he retired after 40 years of service.He was a board member with the Bainbridge High School Booster Club and was a member of the Sportsman's Club. He started the Air Force National Guard on Bainbridge Island with his friend Jerry Huntley. They were called to duty in Alaska in 1951 during the Korean War.He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends, celebrations, clambakes and swimming in Fletcher Bay when it was 80 degrees on the incoming tide. He loved his family and hanging out with his grandchildren and dogs. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening with his wife and attending sporting events. His special gift was his ability to welcome and make anyone feel comfortable. Everyone in turn loved Edgar!He was well read and could talk about any topic. He had a great sense of humor, a twinkle in his eyes, a warm smile and a very loving and gentle manner.Edgar is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna Rose Frease of Bainbridge Island, WA, sisters Eloise Day of Cashmere, WA and Margaret Carman of Concord, CA., children; Sharon (John) Bayne of Port Angeles, WA, Edgar Frease Jr (Theresa) of Denver, CO, Lynne (Kevin) McMahan of Orange City, IA, Kim (Bruce) Plaut of the Netherlands, and Steve Frease (Sally) of Bainbridge Island, WA, stepchildren; Albert Brown of Marysville, WA, Annette Dougherty of San Diego, CA, John Stevens (Sara) of Charlotte, NC, Stacy Stevens-Lacy (Mark) of Bainbridge Island, WA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Paul Dougherty, Donna Marie Filori (Richard), Clementine Dougherty, Albert Brown III, Jennifer Isrel (Tommy), Chris Bayne (Charlotte), Ann Marie Wilson (Thomas), David Bayne (Mary), Cathy Schuman (Jake), Aaron Frease (Kyra), Alison Plant, Rachel Frease, Robert Frease (Brie), Alexander Lacy, Cecil Plant, Nicholas Lacy, Kory McMahan, Trevor McMahan and Daren Frease and 14 great grand children and nieces, nephews. Edgar was preceded in death by Margaret L. Wing Frease.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the celebration of life on Sunday, October 25, 2015 from 2 to 5 PM at Kiana Lodge in Suquamish, Washington.
