93, died peace-fully in Carlsbad after having lived a full life.She was born in Goldsboro, NC to Alonza and Elizabeth Wallace McDermon. After her father died, she was raised in an orphanage with her sister. She went on to study nursing at the Univ. of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where she met her husband, Angelo.During the war she drove trucks for the Navy in Panama backing torpedo warheads down narrow docks to the ships. After the war, they moved to South Gate, CA before settling in San Diego where they lived for more than 30 years.She spent several years also living in Necedah, WI where she was actively involved with Queen of the Holy Rosary shrine there. Upon Angelo's retirement, they moved to Bainbridge Island, WA where they lived for many years near their daughter, Marie. After Angelo's death in 2002, Eunice moved back to the San Diego area to live with her son's family.She is survived by her daughter, Marie Mion Spooner of Bainbridge Island, WA and her husband, David, along with their children, Gregory Spooner and Angela Spooner Hanson, her husband Shane and their son, William. She is also survived by her son, Ronald Mion, of Lake San Marcos, his wife, Glenda, and their two daughters, Nicole and Jessica.A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 19, at 10am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carlsbad. The services will be preceded by a family Rosary at 9:30 in the church. She will be buried alongside Angelo on Bainbridge Island. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Graveside Service on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Port Blakely Cemetery on Bainbridge Island, Washington.
