died on Sunday, November 16th, 2014.He did not go gentle into that good night....... Rage Rage Rage. He was 83 years of age.George was born on February 26th 1931 and reared in San Francisco. Born of Russian immigrant parents, English was his second language. He studied at Polytechnic High School, and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. Interrupting his college studies he served in the Army with the US Military Liaison Mission to Soviet Forces, Germany. During his time in Berlin, he met his wife Sylvia, who was stationed with MI6 at Olympic Stadium in Berlin. They married in Bexleyheath, Kent in 1954. They were joyously partnered for almost sixty years.George worked for Lockheed Martin Co., in California, Alaska, the UK and then transferred to Washington; ultimately retiring there. Sylvia, an avid traveler, joined George in traveling throughout the world including a number of trips to Russia where George found the house that his grandfather had built.He backpacked throughout Northern Yosemite and the Sierras. He wasted time on the golf course, and became involved in local politics and playing chess. He was an Opera (Wagner) and symphony (Beethoven) supporter and lover.He is survived by his wife Sylvia, two marvelous children, Katherine Zonoff, a teacher, married to Eric Hoffman with children Sam and Charlie and Alex, an engineer-manager, married to Tanya Siderova and their daughter Genia. Also by his cousins Nina Kloian and husband Arnold and Michael Temerin and wife Galina.Memorial Events will be private.
