Gloria B. Warden

November 13, 1919 — September 29, 2018

Gloria was just shy of her 99th birthday when she left this world on September 29, 2018 to reunite with her beloved husband George. She was born November 13, 1919 in Chicago and grew up in the Midwest. Gloria and George, along with their 2 young children, came to Seattle in 1950 and working side-by-side started the George Warden Company. For the next fifty plus years, they thoroughly enjoyed everything that the Pacific Northwest had to offer. They built their home on Mercer Island and a cabin on Blakely Island in the San Juan Islands, and boated extensively in a series of boats named "Double G". They also flew in George's Seabee and Bonanza airplanes throughout the west, and even to Mexico. In 1971, they joined the Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club and had many friends and fun adventures. They boated extensively throughout British Columbia for over 25 years, and Gloria expertly stocked the boat at the beginning of each voyage for several months of cruising. Gloria and George also traveled throughout the United States and the entire world. In their "down time", they enjoyed their second home on Blakely Island. Gloria was the consummate party girl, often proclaiming into her late 90's; "I'm the luckiest Old Broad alive". She loved her family and her many friends and will be sorely missed. Gloria is survived by her daughter Michele Whitman (Frank), son Leonard Warden (Stephanie); granddaughters Kim Lilly (Ed) and Kris Barker (Dean), grandson Frank Whitman; and by 7 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband George in 2003. Remembrances can be made to the MBYC Endowment Trust or charity of your choice. There will be a celebration of Gloria's fun filled life on Sunday November 18, at the Meydenbauer Bay Yacht Club in Bellevue, 3-6 p.m. On-line comments can be left at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com
