John D. Anderson

d. January 29, 2008

died on January 29, 2008 after a long fight with cancer, at age 55. He is survived by his wife Hilde, children David and Lynn, brothers Ron (Gail) and Don (Karen) and a circle of dear friends. He leaves behind a legacy of caring, family, a sense of humor and perseverance and he will be greatly missed.John graduated in 1971 from Grace Davis High School in Modesto, California and received his BA in Economics from San Diego State University and MBA from Cal Sate University Sacramento. At Grace Davis John was known as a driven and talented quarterback who proudly led his team to a then school record 7-3 his senior year in the very competitive Central California Conference, earning honorable mention all league honors. He continued to be active in sports, either as a player himself in rec-league basketball, a youth coach or as a volunteering parent in the sports organizations in which his children were involved. His love of sport also included college football and fishing. As a season ticket holder of Husky football for twenty years, he was as relentlessly optimistic about their winning potential as of his ability to catch the next "big one" off of his boat the "Bolleke."While in college, John started the California chapter of ASIC for business majors, which allowed him to work overseas. This also ignited his passion for travel that took him all over the world, from Sweden to Australia, to Belgium where he met Hilde, New York and Seattle as well as travel in Southeast Asia, Central and South America and a journey from Katmandu to London by overland bus. Stories, memories and friends are active reminders of the places he visited. After a career in banking he showed his entrepreneurial spirit by starting a business brokerage which led him to work in commercial real estate. He loved to laugh and share good times with family and friends and was immensely proud of his children.A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM at The Kianna Lodge in Suquamish, WA. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society.Arrangements entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home.
