quietly passed away December 30, 2013 with his family at his side. He was born in Manhattan, New York on February 4, 1922 to his parents Weldon Watte and Alunda Bourquez Watte and siblings Moccodan Watte (Madeline) and Wetona Watte Podszus (Carl).He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years Joan Russell Watte, son Michael Watte, daughter Cynthia Watte Connell (Richard) and five grandchildren: Marcus Watte, Selena Watte, Steven Connell, Amy Connell Fry (Jared), Nathan Connell, and, two great grandchildren. He also leaves behind two step brothers Frank and Anthony Miele and nephew Dr. Erik Podszus.John attended New York schools until his enlistment in the Army in 1942. He served for four years participating in the Normandy invasion and the battle for Northern France. John was employed by the government all of his life retiring from PSNS as a supervisor in electronics. He was active in veteran's affairs and was a founding member of Post #245 American Legion in Poulsbo, WA. He was also commander of the VFW Post #4992 in Silverdale.He will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery during a private service.John's family wishes to thank Hospice of Kitsap County for the skilled and tender care he received in his final days.
