passed away peacefully on June 19, 2010. Born in Seattle, October 20, 1920 to Erick Olaf and Teckla Ada (Quartman) Astrom. Moved to Aberdeen in 1921. Graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1938 and from Grays Harbor Business College in 1940. While there she worked as a part-time legal stenographer for attorneys Abel, Manley and Akerman. In 1941 she was employed by the Grays Harbor Office of National Bank of Commerce of Seattle where she held various positions in bookkeeping, auditor, and then commercial loan officer at the time of her retirement after 44 years in 1985. She was an 18 year member of Zonta where she served as treasurer. Also, treasurer of Grays Harbor Business and Professional Women's Club and member and treasurer of Aberdeen Pioneers Association. She was also a member of the former Grays Harbor Knife & Fork Club and Dorothy Mann"s birthday club. She was a member of the Mother Church, The First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston and member of The First Church of Christ Scientist in Aberdeen where she served as organist for 39 years. She enjoyed working in her garden, reading, difficult cross-word puzzles, and knitting. Margaret was very fond of cats and adopted many strays. Remembrances are suggested to PAWS of Grays Harbor, Aberdeen. (*Dictated to me, L. Quartman Younker, by M 2005.) Granddaughter of Swedish immigrants who pioneered Bothell, she carried those strong notions, precise accountability, and wit to her last day. She will be interred with her mother and father at Acacia Cemetery in Bothell, WA. She is survived by numerous cousins in WA, CA, and ID.
