Maxine Young Saxton, of Poulsbo, has passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side. Born in Formoso, Kansas May 24, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Fred Oliver Young and Nora (Hendricks) Young. Maxine was 104 years of age. After high school Maxine attended College at the University of Arizona.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Walter Saxton, who passed in 1997. They met during WWII, while working at Lockheed, in Southern California. In the early 1950's, they moved to Placerville, CA and later to Lake Tahoe, CA where they raised their family. During this time, Maxine enjoyed a long career as a school secretary. They retired to Washington, residing in Port Townsend, in 1975.
Maxine is survived by her loving daughters Linda Tanner (husband, Bill), Dana Gould (husband, Paul Kevin) and Debra Saxton (husband, Thom †); granddaughters Jennifer Denton (husband, Max), Katina Varzos (husband, Jonathan) and Sarah Bartlett; and two great grandchildren, Eliot and Collette.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Graveside service on Monday June 4, 2018 at 1:00PM in Poulsbo City Cemetery 20002 Caldart Avenue NE Poulsbo, WA 98370. Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home Bainbridge Island. A guest book is available at www.cookfamilyfuneralhome.com
