Melissa Ann Dawkins

passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at her home on Bainbridge Island, Washington. She was born on January 20, 1952 in Missoula, Montana to Harry T. and Margretta Johnson. She was 58 years of age. Melissa worked as a school bus driver for the Bainbridge Island School district for 11 years. She loved nothing more than to be in her garden and spending time with her family, often watching movies. She loved and cared for many animals during her life and was passionate about their care. She took great pride in her home and was a wonderful decorator. Melissa was never afraid to tackle home repairs and she thrived on always improving her home and garden. She enjoyed her co-workers and the friendships she made while working with the school district. She was proud of her bus driving abililities and enjoyed the time she spent with the school children. Melissa is survived by her children Stephanie Viele of Bainbridge Island, WA, Chris Dawkins of Long Beach, WA, Amanda Dawkins of Bainbridge Island, her mother Margretta Johnson of Olympia, WA and siblings Chris Johnson of Portland, Oregon and Becky Johnson of Olympia, WA. There are two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Roland Dawkins and father Harry Johnson. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Reception/Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 2:00 pm -5:00 pm at The Tree House Cafe on Bainbridge Island, WA.
