Pamela Camille Dowdney

May 11, 1946 — May 10, 2023

Pamela “Camille” Dowdney of Bainbridge Island, Washington, died on May 10, 2023. Camille was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on May 11, 1946. She served as a U.S. Senate Aide for Senators Dick Durbin and Paul Simon, and she received a Twenty-year service pin for her work. Camille also served as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. She loved Chicago, and lived in Lombard, Illinois for most of her life.

For her last ten years, Camille lived on Bainbridge Island and was active in her homeowner’s association. She filled her Bainbridge condo with memorabilia of her numerous political activities in Illinois. Camille was an avid reader, especially focusing on politics and mysteries. She contributed extensively to numerous animal and environmental organizations, and the American Humane Society was her special interest. Camille treasured the memory of her parents and the memories of her father as a rookie pitcher for Chicago’s White Sox and as a champion swimmer. She loved birthday celebrations and cards.

Camille leaves behind her brother, William Dowdney and sister-in-law, Donna Lee Dowdney (Bainbridge Island, Washington); her niece Deb Dowdney and children (Poulsbo, Washington), and her nephew, David Dowdney and family (San Francisco, California).

Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
