passed away on Monday, April 30, 2007 on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was 76 years of age and a resident of Bainbridge Island.Robert was born on September 20, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to Frederick Albert Arnstein and Virginia Nathan. Robert and his wife moved to Bainbridge Island three years ago from Birmingham, Michigan.He was a member of the Birmingham Temple. Dr. Arnstein committed his life to caring for others in his roles as husband, father, doctor, and teacher. He began his medical career at Washington University School of Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Stanford University Hospital where he was Chief Resident in 1961. Through outstanding teaching and research, Dr. Arnstein became Head of Endocrinology at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit. After many years of private patient care, he finished his career teaching young physicians at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Arnstein served as chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Oakland County Medical Society.Robert is remembered for his compassion, intelligence, sense of humor, and love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Rita, their three sons, Jeff, Larry (Noriko Tobe), and Ted (Alison Koff), five grandchildren, his brother Frederick, and his sister-in-law Dolly. He also leaves behind his many new friends on Bainbridge Island.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 5:00 PM at the Birmingham Temple, 28611 West Twelve Mile Road, Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334. A reception will follow the service at the temple.Memorial contributions can be made in his honor to the Hospice of Kitsap County Washington or The Alzheimers Association.Arrangements by Cook Family Funeral Home.
