passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Island Health and Rehabilitation on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He was 84 years of age and a resident of Bainbridge Island.Robert was born on July 2, 1923 to Joseph and Lena Kuss in Seattle, WA. He was educated in West Seattle schools; received his B.A. from The University of Washington and his Master's Degree at Central Washington State University. He served three years in the South Pacific with The United States Navy, World War II. He taught at Bainbridge High School from 1952-1956; returned to West Seattle and retired from Boeing after 30 years of service.Robert was a mountain guide on Mt. Rainier, leading over 30 summit climbs. He returned to Bainbridge Island in 1978. He was an avid fisherman, boater, fly tyer, skier, wood carver, photographer, world traveler and harmonica player. He found joy in his climbs to high NW mountain lakes with his family and friends. He was a member of SEABACS, Viking YC and Eagle Harbor YC. He was also a ski instructor for many PNW ski schools for 35 years. Robert was a life member of Skiers, Inc. - Ski Acres and Princess Louisa Intern'l Society.He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Frances; daughters Kris Peterson and Megan Caddy (Tom), son Robert J. Ross, Jr., brother William Kuss (Annette), sister Virginia Gunby (George), grandson Sean Donovan and granddaughter Brynne Burtsche and great grandsons Brock and J.T.. There also many loving nieces and nephews.At Bob's request there will not be a formal service, however, a celebration of his life will be held in the future and will be announced.
