Sara L Sinclair

February 26, 1984 — March 4, 2023

Our beautiful daughter Sara Luise Sinclair passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of her family on March 4th 2023 after a hard fought 3 year battle with breast cancer. Sara had just celebrated her 39th Birthday.

Sara was born on February 26th 1984 into a proud Navy family where her father Fred was stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Washington. Her major life experiences and friendships were uniquely cultivated by numerous family moves across the United States and visits with family overseas in Scotland. She took her first steps on the sands of Deception Pass on Whidbey Island Wa. A few years later she experienced Disneyland and tap-danced in Balboa Park in San Diego Ca.

By the age six she had hiked Diamond Head in Hawaii. At eight, she won 3 gold medals at the Hawaiian Open Ice Skating championship . She also enjoyed surfing Florida beaches in Pensacola and Gulf Breeze and skiing on the slopes of Mt. Rainier with her high school friends. Sara attended Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary in Hawaii, Cottonwood elementary school in Bremerton Wa. Brownsville Elementary , Gulf Breeze High School in Fla. and eventually Olympic High School in Silverdale when our family moved back to the PNW. She graduated from Olympic High School in 2002 and from 2005 - 2013 and worked as a recreation assistant at U.S. Dept of Defense Bangor Wa. where she made a great many friends and colleagues over the years. Working in the recreation area gave her exposure to learning about exercise and gym life. She became quite knowledgeable and passionate about health and fitness and even competed in several local bodybuilding competitions.

On April 22nd 2015 Sara and her Mom Ellen competed together in the same show. It was a very memorable time and quite an accomplishment! From 2013 up to the last week of her life Sara worked full time as a valuable member of MWR Keyport Navy Region Northwest IT Systems Team. Over the years she received several awards and accolades for her outstanding achievements in customer and team support.

Sara was beautiful in so many ways. Her eyes were the most gorgeous greenish blue (the color of a pure mountain glacier lake). She was vivacious, Sassy and funny! She enjoyed drawing and painting and had a great talent for web design and computer graphics. Her hobbies included music and art, fashion, gardening, hiking, camping, kayaking and enjoying the outdoors as much as possible. Even when she was sick she still found ways to experience the outdoors and enjoy nature with her family. She also had a wonderful connection with animals especially cats and had quite a few pet kitties over the years. I can hardly remember a time when she didn’t have a cat purring contently in her arms.

She was a precious daughter, sister, cousin, aunty, niece and loyal friend. She loved and was beloved not just by those that knew her, but by those whose lives she touched all over the World. While sharing her journey online she inspired, supported and gave hope and comfort to so many others who were also fighting their own battles with cancer or illness. Our family would like to thank everyone who supported our precious brave daughter over the years through donations, well wishes, messages, phone calls and prayers. She never gave up in her battle against cancer and fought with a determination, courage and inner strength not many of us will ever witness or experience. Cancer did not win! Sara had the last word. Thanks also to the doctors and nurses who treated and cared for our dear girl. Especially those who made a very meaningful connection and bond with her. You know who you are.

Sara is survived by her parents Ellen and Fred Sinclair, Siblings Joseph, Daniel and Michele Sinclair and Grandparents James and Isabella Laurie of Largs, Scotland, and many loving Aunts, Uncles, cousins , nieces and nephews here and abroad.

Sara’s wishes were to have a Celebration of Her Life in her honor which will be held on April 22nd 2023. We request that Sara's loved ones, friends and co workers who would like to attend in this special celebration please RSVP to my email captfredsinclair@hotmail.com for further details .

She loved being in the garden and exploring nature so we are asking in lieu of flowers that living plants be donated for a memorial garden we are planning for Sara.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
