Gina passed away January 30, 2008. She was born in Havre, Montana, September 7, 1934 to Leslie and Alice Mathews. She attended Washington State University and moved to Seattle in 1953, was married in 1954. She raised three children and was active in many endeavors. Lunch Lady and classroom assistant at Suquamish Elementary, attendance office at North Kitsap High School, employed at Kitsap County Herald, Edgren Insurance, Poulsbo Marketplace, the Suquamish Fire Department, and the Buz Whiteley Big Band.She was a Girl Scout leader, Highschool Band Booster and trip chaperone, and she was secretary for the local landowners organization. She volunteered at the Poulsbo Fishline. She received the Golden Acorn Award, North Kitsap Citizen of the year award, earned a celestial navigation certificate from the U.S. Power Squadron, and performed in many local vaudeville shows and was an accomplished boater. She was an active and loved member of the Faith Episcopal Church in Kingston. Her greatest joy in life was giving of herself to others.She is survived by her loving husband William (Buz) Whiteley, Jr., son William (Bill) Whiteley III, and wife Vicki, of Poulsbo, daughter Ann Holt, and husband David, of Bainbridge Island, and son David Whiteley, and wife Kathryn, of Kenmore, WA., and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Catherine Franklin of Poulsbo.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, February 10, 2008 from 2:00 until 6:00 at The Poulsbo Yacht Club, 18129 Fjord Dr N.E. Poulsbo, WA 98370 (Map). Remembrances may be made to the North Kitsap Fishline food bank at PO Box 1517, Poulsbo WA, 98370 or at 18916 3rd Ave in Poulsbo. Arrangements by Cook Family Funeral Home.
