William Albert Reed

William Albert Reed, 97, of Bremerton, WA., and formerly of Kissimmee, Florida passed away with his loving daughter at his side on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Born in England, he was the son of Albert William and Emily (Foster) Reed.

William served his country of Britain during WWII and was one of the very few who survived the D-Day Invasion. His battalion landed on the beach and his tank was one of two that accomplished its mission the first day. Because of his continuous bravery, William was awarded one of the highest honors by his command.

After his service time, William moved to Canada with his family as a young man, and then at 35 years old, he moved to the United States which he always dreamt of doing. He worked in different jobs for a little while and then his Union was hired to work as carpenters on Disney Land. After working there for some time, his work ethic and quality were noticed and he was offered a full-time position with the Disney Company. William would spend several years working for the Walt Disney Company as a Master Carpenter, building rides and doing different repairs on the many attractions over the years. He would often bring his daughter Deborah with him to work knowing she would be well supervised everywhere in the park because of the security cameras and staff. They would even have lunch together at the various cafeterias throughout the park.

Later in his career, William decided to move to Florida where he went to work for Disney World Entertainment Park partly because one of the benefits was that he could bring a set number of family to the park any day and he felt it would be a great perk when people came to Florida for a visit. He put his many talents to work and helped design rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean along with many other features and attractions. He would spend the rest of his career and ultimately retire from the company.

Preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter Katie, and his loving son Bruce, he is survived by his beloved daughter Deborah, 2 sons; Gordon and Phillip Reed, 5 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services and interment will be private and by the family as per William's wishes.
