Brenna Marie Morgan left us on June 18, 2023 at the age of 47. We wanted to keep her longer, but it was her time to go. She was born and lived through college graduation in Iowa, graduating from the University of Iowa in 1999. She didn’t wait a minute before she packed her possessions and headed to Seattle where her older brother, Doug, lived. He was forever her friend and supporter, and she never looked back. She graduated from Brenneke School of Massage and found her calling. She loved her many clients and they loved her. She had many loyal coworkers who will miss her working beside them.
Brenna will be remembered by her family and many friends for her love of music and all things Grateful Dead. She loved spending time with her friends, taking long walks and sharing talks, and traveling with them. They remember their dances with her in the kitchen, living room, any room and even outdoors! Three friends from Iowa City became “the girls” with her and they have stayed close in friendship, if not in distance. Just a few years ago they spent time together on Whidbey Island to reconnect and remember the “old” times. Memories of her quick wit, infectious smile and her kind compassionate spirit will stay with all of us forever in our hearts! We will all greatly miss her hugs – strong and supportive, always at just the right time.
Brenna and Jeff were married on June 27, 2014 in Seattle in a beautiful ceremony on Lake Union. They spent many special weekends over the years enjoying trips to the coast and other quaint places around Washington. They always made sure the places they stayed welcomed pets because Addy, their lab, didn’t miss a trip with them! Brenna had a special place in her heart for animals, making Jeff stop to pet horses along the road and dogs anywhere! Her kindness extended to the homeless as she would stop to check on them whenever she encountered one. Jeff saw her as “the kindest person I’ve ever met”!
Brenna is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Bears, her parents, Pat and Cyndi Morgan, Brother Doug Morgan, his wife Dayna and their children Izzy and Oscar, all of Seattle. Her aunts and uncles, Tom and Jeanette Schierbrock, Bob and Jackie Schierbrock, Larry and Mary Kay Moline and Kathy Gaffney and many nieces and nephews in Iowa. Jeff’s family includes his parents, Shirley and Gene Bears, brothers Chris and Pat, sister Tracey. Brenna is also survived by her sweet and sassy dog, Addy, who will miss her snuggles and walks with Brenna but will be there to keep Jeff company!
Brenna is preceded in death by her grandparents, Bob and Betty Schierbrock, Oscar and Marien Morgan, and Uncles Jerry Morgan and Dan Schierbrock. We can’t forget Charlie, her loving Lab, who was Brenna’s constant companion for 12 years.
A Family Memorial Service will be held on July 13, 2023 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island. A Celebration of Life is being planned in Seattle at a future date.
