Bryce Lawrence Holland, III, also fondly known as Trey, passed away on February 28, 2023 due to a sudden and tragic accident. He was born on September 6, 1984 and was 38 years old at the time of his passing. Bryce was a true Pacific Northwesterner; he was born in Seattle, grew up on Mercer Island, and attended the University of Washington where he was a Fiji. He enjoyed wearing plaid shirts, woodworking, and regaling his wife (and every out of town visitor) with more facts about Seattle and the Puget sound than they could ever want to know. He was an avid Husky fan who also loved the Seahawks.
After college, Bryce worked in NYC as an investment banker. He then attended The Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia where he earned his Master of Business Administration. In the midst of his MBA, Bryce moved to Austin, Texas, to start his own company, GameUp. After a year, he returned to Wharton and spent the last year of school in immersive learning programs in San Francisco and Singapore.
Bryce had an incredible love of technology and business. He took a job at his dream company, Amazon, where he would develop his extensive career over the next 9 years. He started as a senior product manager and grew into a highly respected leader across key business areas. Bryce took over the Amazon Seller mobile team when it was a barebones, non-performing app and grew the organization to more than 50 people, all while making it a 5-star app. Through his leadership and mentoring, he ushered in a brand new mobile experience and built a world-class team. He mentored numerous future leaders at Amazon and helped lead and grow other teams along the way.
Bryce had an incredible love of travel. He scuba dived in Borneo, ate tapas in Spain, judged an entrepreneurship program in the Philippines, and pulled teeth while providing dental work on the island of Luzon. He had a run-in with pirates in Malaysia, drove a minivan with friends around the entire island of Puerto Rico and surfed in Rincon. He traveled to India, Japan, Thailand, China, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, New Zealand, France, Canada, and various places throughout South America.
While in Austin, Bryce met the love of his life, Davin, in 2012. Bryce proposed to Davin in Ireland and they married in the Willamette Valley in 2017. They moved back to the Pacific Northwest shortly after. Bryce and Davin became proud parents when Asta, their first child who is now 2.5 years old, was born in 2020. In 2022, they welcomed their second child, Marielle, who is currently 11 months old. Bryce was thrilled to finally put his extensive knowledge of cringe- worthy dad jokes into action, something he took great pride in. Bryce cherished spending quality time with his daughters; whether it was enjoying swimming lessons with Marielle, baking cookies with Asta, playing instruments with Marielle, or stargazing with Asta before tucking her into bed.
Bryce is survived by his beloved wife, Davin Holland; his two daughters Asta Holland and Marielle Holland; his parents Bryce Holland, Jr. and Robin Holland; his brother Preston Holland, sister-in-law Jessica Sherrow, niece Hattie Holland, and nephew Miles Holland; and his brother Kipling Holland, sister-in-law Elena Winters, and niece Lilly Holland.
