Charles Mark Pitroff

1947 — 2025

Hansville

Charles Mark Pitroff, 77, of Hansville, WA, passed away suddenly on July 8, 2025, surrounded by family.

He had just returned from a week-long family reunion in Wyoming, preached his final sermon the day after returning, and was called home to be with Jesus two days later.

Mark was born in Erie, PA, to Charles and Gladys (Jones) Pitroff in 1947.

Mark moved to Florida in Jr. High, won a state championship in track, and then graduated from Lakeland High School in 1965. He attended Nyack Missionary College in New York, where he met his future wife of 53 years, Mary. He then graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 1970. Mark started out his ministry career with Campus Crusade for Christ and then reunited with Mary in 1970. They were Married in May of 1972.

Mark continued to be a pastor to churches primarily with the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination in Deerborn, MI, Utica, NY, Alliquippa, PA, and Lynnwood, WA.

He then served as Senior Pastor for many years at Hansville Community Church. Late in his ministry, he also served with Interim Pastoral Ministries at churches in Wisconsin and Oregon.

For the last year of his ministry, Mark filled the pulpit at Real Hope Community Church in Lacey, WA.

Mark volunteered with the Snohomish County Fire and Rescue and Kitsap County Fire and Rescue as a Chaplain.

A few of Mark’s favorite things were road trips, photography, especially of sunsets and family, camping, hiking in his younger years, and bike rides later on. He loved music, playing instruments, listening to it, and singing, and encouraged music in all his kids’ lives. Mark also enjoyed sports and always made an effort to be at all his kids’ games. He especially loved being around his family and spent much of his later years with his dog, Cooper, going on daily sunset rides.

Mark is survived by his wife, Mary (Podoll) Pitroff, and sons and daughters: Aaron (Joy) Pitroff, Ryan (Katie) Pitroff, Jason (Debby) Pitroff, Abigail (Charlie) Smith, Bethany Pitroff, Nathan (Alissa) Pitroff, Jonathan (Sara) Pitroff, and Benjamin (Tori) Pitroff. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his twin brothers, Ken and Keith Pitroff.
