Christy Lynn Robinson

Christy Lynn Weiser Robinson was born on January 13, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, and passed away on August 14, 2026, on Bainbridge Island. She grew up in Glendale, California, and attended California State University, Northridge, where she earned a BA in History. She later returned to the university to complete an MA in History.

Chris was married to Maynard Robinson, a fellow history major at Northridge, for two years.

For thirty years, Chris worked for the International Programs of the California State University system as an Academic Affairs Officer in Long Beach, California, where she lived for many years until her retirement.

In the mid-2000s, Christy moved to Bainbridge Island—an outcome she had long planned, drawn by fond memories of visiting family in the Puget Sound area. She purchased the home built by her cousin, Morgan, on Oddfellows Road and, through additions and remodeling, made it her own. 

Friends were immensely important to Chris, and she had a remarkable gift for sustaining meaningful connections over time and distance. Her friendships spanned every stage of her life, from childhood and high school through college and her working years. In retirement, she built a warm community on Bainbridge Island, including her neighborhood, yoga, book group, Silver Sneakers at the BIRC, and Fletcher Bay Winery, among others.

Chris had a long-time partner, John Edwards, with whom she moved to Bainbridge Island, and later a more recent partner of more than ten years, Stanley Stumbo of Bainbridge Island. Chris and Stan were regulars on Wednesday nights at Fletcher Bay Winery, where they enjoyed live music and wine. They also shared a love of travel, traveling together on Stan’s boats and on Viking Cruises.

An avid reader, Chris especially enjoyed non-fiction and American history, and she remained a keen follower of politics. She found joy in the companionship of her friends and in the pleasures she loved most—barbecuing, watching PBS, enjoying the view of Port Madison from Stan’s deck, listening to music, and singing along with Stan on his guitar.

Chris also cherished her many beloved pets, including both cats and dogs. She was particularly devoted to Charlie, a mini-Schnauzer, and to his successor, Carly, also a mini-Schnauzer. She was a devoted dog mom.

Chris is survived by her brother, Spencer Weiser, of Port Charlotte, Florida, and cousins Jenny Andersen of Bainbridge Island and Morgan Andersen of Rosalia, Washington. A memorial service will be held in the early fall on Bainbridge Island.
