Long-time Washington nurse Donna Poole passed away on September 25th following a brief illness. Her family and friends were by her side in the days leading up to her passing.
Poole served as president of WSNA from 1985-1989. She was a founding member of the Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses and served on the board of the state nursing commission. She was widely respected as a leader and mentor. Donna was an early advocate for the role of nurse practitioners in medicine, helping to lead Washington state to the forefront of independent practice laws.
Poole was a 30-year resident of Bainbridge Island. A memorial service will be held on November 16th at 1 pm at the Stan Pocock Rowing Center, 281 Brien Dr SE, Bainbridge. All are invited.
