Frances Elizabeth “Betsy” Larkin Lewis February 25, 1942 – October 1, 2025
Frances “Betsy” Lewis of Bainbridge Island, Washington, passed away on October 1, 2025 after a brief illness. Born in Dallas, TX to Percy Larkin, Jr. and Elizabeth Kirk Larkin, she grew up in the Dallas area and graduated from Richardson High School in 1960. She graduated with a B.A. in Education from Texas Women’s University.
After college, she went on to teach junior high school English in the Denver, Colorado area, where she also met Robert (Bob) N. Lewis. She and Robert married in 1967 in Dallas TX. They would “head west”, to San Francisco, living in Tacoma, Seattle and finally on Bainbridge Island WA.
Though primarily a homemaker, Betsy also worked at a yarn store and later at Bainbridge High School. When their daughters were growing up, the four of them traveled, including to Singapore and Hong Kong. Later, they made trips to Italy and France. Over the years, Betsy enjoyed crossword puzzles, cooking, gardening and traveling with Bob, and the company of her two daughters, Wynne and Meredith.
Preceded in death by her father Percy Larkin Jr. and Elizabeth Kirk Larkin, as well as Robert Lewis, she is survived by her two daughters Wynne (Frank) Jacobson and Meredith Anne Lewis, as well as brother Kirk Larkin and sister-in-law Coleta Larkin of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Additionally, she is survived by her niece Shelly Larkin and nephew Ryan Larkin, and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
