was born on Bainbridge Island, Washington on, March 18, 1923 to Jitsuzo and Shima Nakata. The sixth of seven brothers and sisters. Passed away peacefully at home June 3, 2007. Preceded in death in 2003 by Sue, his wife of 54 years.Graduated from BI High School, class of 1941. In March of 1942, was sent along with his family to an internment camp in Manzanar, CA.He returned to BI after the war. In 1947 went to work with brother John in Seattle at Paramount Grocery. In 1960 he moved back to BI to run Lynwood Market.1967 he went to work for Town and Country Market, the store started by his brothers Mo and John and family friend Ed Loverich. He semi retired in 1988 and continued working until 2006. During this time he also worked at Poulsbo Market Place and Central Market Poulsbo.He was famous for bantering with co-workers and customers. He was an avid golfer who formed a tight bond with a group he golfed with for 40 years. He also cherished his friendship with members of the class of 41. He considered himself lucky to have so many friends. Family was very important to him, especially his beloved granddaughter Kristi. He is survived by his loving children; Kathy and Rick of Bainbridge Island, WA and Jerry (Yuka) of Redmond, WA. He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughter Kristi of Redmond and his dear sister Yoshie Iwasa of Los Angeles, California. We will miss him dearly.
