Glen Anthony Journeay

Glen Anthony Journeay was born in 1958 in Portland, Oregon, to Charles and Arlene Journeay. He grew up in Livermore, California, and graduated with a degree in engineering from the University of California at Davis. He moved to Poulsbo in 1983, where he developed torpedo test systems for the Navy at NUWC Keyport until 1992. He then worked as an engineer for Boeing in both Everett and Renton for 26 years. He retired in 2023.

Glen was an avid sailor, bicycle rider, fly-fishing angler, and photographer. He also loved playing the guitar and was an enthusiastic audiophile. He was a self-described “tech nerd” from childhood who designed and built his own radios, computer systems, and color programs for photography. When he wasn’t tinkering with tech, he was sailing, riding one of his bicycles, saltwater fly-fishing at Point No Point or one of his “secret fishing spots”, traveling with his wife and daughter to new places to photograph, and enjoying the outdoors. He was well-known and well-loved by so many people who shared his interests. Glen was always willing and ready to join in the fun whenever it was happening, whether on the water, on a bicycle, on the hiking trail, or with his family and many friends. He shared his time and his loves with his wife and children first of all, and was always willing to learn just as much from them as they learned from him. He was a loving, caring, generous father, husband, and friend.

Glen is survived by his wife of 34 years, his daughter, his 6 siblings, and his stepmother. Although he passed away at the age of only 68 years old, he was doing what he loved - riding his bicycle. He continues to live in our hearts and minds, riding the roads and sailing the waters he loved so well.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at a future time and date to be announced.
