Gig Harbor, Washington - Janelle Petty Rucker passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, due to complications from COVID-19 and Alzheimer's Disease. Janelle was born in Andrews, Texas, on October 14, 1948, to William Wayne Petty and Lois Huff Petty. Janelle matriculated at West Texas State University, where she met Joe Raymond Rucker. The two married on December 21, 1969, and later relocated to Tacoma, WA where Janelle was a substitute teacher. After the birth of her two children, Brentley Todd and Meegan Alyce, Janelle dedicated herself full-time to motherhood.

Following the tragic loss of her husband in 1987, Janelle became a regular at the YMCA, eventually volunteering on the Board of Directors. She also became a successful investor and an avid traveler. Janelle was a very devoted friend to many and built a tight-knit community of friends. Janelle lived a life marked by warmth and dedication to her family and friends.

Janelle is survived by her children, Meegan Rucker and Brentley Rucker; and her grandsons, Asher Kauffman and Jude Kauffman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Rucker.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 27, at YMCA Camp Seymour. In remembrance of Janelle's life, the family requests that any charitable donations be made to Camp Seymour in her name https://www.campseymour.org/about/give/ .
