Joyce Louise Pardee Knutsen died on August 18, 2023 surrounded by her family and close friends.
Joyce Louise Pardee was born in Carol, Iowa. She lived in Audubon, Iowa until graduating from high school from which she attended the University of Iowa to become a teacher. She soon relocated to Ketchikan, Alaska where she met Peter Knutsen. They moved to Bainbridge Island where Joyce lived 54 years during her time she was a part of the welcome wagon on Bainbridge. Joyce often substitute taught at Wilkes, Ordway, Commodore and the High School on Bainbridge. After some time, Joyce went back to college and became a travel agent which she did for 10 years and traveled the world. Joyce and Pete had some amazing trips during this time.
Joyce often volunteered her time at help lines on Bainbridge Island and fish lines in Poulsbo for decades. She will truly be missed and remembered for her courage, strength, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Holt, her brother Terry Pardee, her son Joseph Knutsen, her daughter Paula Reed, her grandchildren Alex, Alecia and Nelly Rathe, Davis Knutsen, James, Jeremy, and Joyce Reed as well as her great grandchildren Layla Rathe, Braxton Mooris and Sylvia Knutsen.
