Leslie Dean Macdonald Jr.

July 10, 1939 — January 13, 2024

Leslie D. MacDonald Jr., a cherished member of the Suquamish tribe, departed from this world on January 13, 2024. Leslies long journey carried him through 84 colorful years of life.


He was born in Port Townsend to Beatrice and Leslie MacDonald on July 10, 1939. He was a knowledgeable and deeply rooted family man.


Leslie served as a Marine in the Vietnam War and as a pipefitter with the shipyard. He made sure to visit all of his relations, from Neah Bay to Little Boston. He enjoyed studying philosophy, science, and current events. Other hobbies included listening to a variety of music and news, playing Cribbage, Pinnacle, Dice, Bowling, shooting pool, and playing guitar.


Leslie was survived by his brothers, Calvin Williams, Gary Williams, Michael MacDonald, and his sister Mary Alan. His children; Leverne Williams, Tony Nilluka, LeAnne Nilluka, Lewis George, Mark Nilluka, Kathryn Johnston, Lynn Swanson, Hazle Pacquette, Beatrice Berlin, 29 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins and friends also survive him.


Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie MacDonald and Beatrice Nilluka, his sisters Janis Lemieux, a baby sister, his brother Robbie MacDonald and two children Carol Glenn and Lee MacDonald.


Leslie was an enrolled Makah Tribal member.


His funeral service will held on January 26, 2024, at the House of Awakened Culture in Suquamish with a viewing at 10:00 am followed by services from 11:00 until 1:00 pm. The interment will be made in the Suquamish Tribal Cemetery immediately followed by a meal at the House of Awakened Culture.

 

Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA.
