Margaret Tyler Robinson

d. November 5, 2011

of Bainbridge Island, passed away in her home, with her family at her side, on November 5, 2011 at the age of 95.Margaret was born April 27, 1916 to Mary and Truman Tyler of Battlecreek, Nebraska. She graduated from University of Wisconsin at Madison with a master's degree in library science. Margaret fell in love with her college sweetheart, William Thomas Robinson, and together they enjoyed fifty-five years of marriage. Margaret, ‘Margo', Robinson was a kind, generous woman who always quietly went out of her way to help others. Margo volunteered at the Children's Hospital ‘Bargain Boutique' for twenty years, knit hundreds of baby blankets for the neonatal unit of the hospital, donated and volunteered for her church, St. Olaf's Catholic Church of Poulsbo Washington and St. Cecilia's Catholic Church of Bainbridge Island Washington, her alma mater University of Wisconsin and countless charities close to her heart. Margo never spoke poorly of others and always had sparkle in her eye when she spoke of her family and friends.Margo was a homemaker while her children were young and then went to work at the Park Ridge Public Library in Illinois, for ten years prior to moving with her husband to Miller Bay in Indianola, Washington in 1972. Margo was passionate about many things in her life but, perhaps, none more so than sports! Margo was a walking, talking sports almanac, willing to take on bets about the name of a player, coach, batting average, golf handicap or what other trivia came up during a conversation. The Golden Years of Margo's life was spent visiting or being visited by a constant stream of family members. Everyone loved ‘Grandma Diddie', as her great-grandchildren affectionately named and called her. Margo loved to shop for, cook, bake and serve all types of food. Those lucky enough to be invited to join always left the table with full stomachs and smiles on their faces!Margaret is survived by her three children, Mary Robinson Roben of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Kathleen Robinson Wilson of Napa, California and William Thomas Robinson of Kingston, Washington; her eight grandchildren, Michael Roben, Martha Roben Hathaway, Jennifer Lesser, Stacey Wilson, Nicole Burton, Heather Robinson, Starla Robinson and Vanessa Abobo; and her twelve great-grandchildren, Ryder, Jack, Kate, Emily, Brendan, Olivia, Colvin, Elizabeth, Max, Maggie, Abigail and Christopher. A memorial service will be held at Saint Cecilia's Catholic Church on Bainbridge Island, Saturday December 2, 2011 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helpline House.
