December 27th 1938- November 24th 2021

Sandy, beloved Mother, Nana, and Friend went to be with the Lord November 24th 2021. She passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side. She was born December 27th 1938 to Edward F. Ericksen and Margaret Grenvik Ericksen in Everett Washington. She was raised in Marysville WA along with a younger brother Kevin. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1957 staying close to many of her classmates.
While at Everett Community College she met and married Carl J. Burke in 1958. They soon moved to Hawaii and had their first son Cary. After a year they moved back to Everett where a second son Shawn and daughter Betsy were born. In 1967 they moved their growing family to Bainbridge Island where Stephanie and then Ryan were born.
While raising their family she designed and they built their log home on Bainbridge. After raising her children she found time to pursued her love of Architecture and Historic Preservation by going back to school in Virginia getting her Bachelor of Liberal Studies with distinction in Historic Preservation from Mary Washington College in 1994. Then getting her Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon in 1999.
Sandy loved living and being a part of her Bainbridge Island Community. She was very involved with the Bainbridge Historical Society and Museum. And loved attending her weekly bible study with many of her life long friends. She loved traveling and some of her favorite places, were Hawaii, the East Coast, Scotland and Idaho.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, son Shawn who died at birth, and Carl.
Remembrances in her memory can be made to, Seattle Union Gospel Mission, Horse Plus Humane Society or Sidewalk Advocates for Life.
