Susie Shizue Fujioka

passed away peacefully of natural causes at the Madrona House on January 29, 2017.Susie was born June 25, 1930 on Vashon Island, and grew up on the family berry farm until the Japanese Relocation during WWII, when she and her family were taken to Tule Lake, CA, and later moved to Heart Mountain, WY. After the war, she briefly lived in Spokane before returning to Vashon Island, graduating Vashon High School in 1948.Susie and her sister, Mary, moved to their newly built home on the south end of Bainbridge Island in 1974.Susie was predeceased by four brothers and her parents, and is survived by two sisters, Martha and Mary, extended family, and much-loved dog, Zachary.There will be no service by request. In honor of Susie's memory, donations may be made to PAWS of Bainbridge Island.
