On June 26, 2026, the world became a little quieter with the passing of Todd Philip Ludwig, who died at his home on Bainbridge Island, Washington, surrounded by the love of his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 58 years old.

Todd was born on September 13, 1967, in Lewiston, Idaho. From an early age, he possessed an unmistakable charisma, quick wit, and generous spirit that would define the way he lived his life. He had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome. Whether you had known him for decades or had just met him, Todd had a way of making you feel like you were one of his closest friends.

Todd started his collegiate career at the University of Washington, where he became a proud member of Phi Kappa Sigma and completed earning a BA in Hospitality & Business Management from Washington State University. The friendships he built there lasted a lifetime, and the stories from those years only seemed to grow more legendary with time. He later earned his Master of Business Administration from Seattle University, beginning a career in sales and leadership that spanned more than three decades.

Throughout his career, most recently as Leader of Strategic Accounts at Sardine (AI-powered fraud prevention and risk detection), Todd became known not only for his remarkable professional success but for the people he developed along the way. He believed success was best when shared, mentoring countless colleagues and helping build stronger teams, stronger leaders, and stronger companies. He was proud of the many awards he received, but even more proud of the people whose lives he influenced.

Above every professional accomplishment stood the role he treasured most: being a father.

Brady, Ava, and Maeve were the center of Todd’s world. Every decision he made was rooted in creating a life filled with opportunity, adventure, stability, and unforgettable memories for his children. He worked tirelessly to provide for them, support their dreams, save for their futures, and create a home that was peaceful, joyful, welcoming, and full of love. Nothing made him prouder than watching his children grow into remarkable young adults.

Todd was equally proud to be an uncle and godfather. His nieces and nephews—Siri, Halland, Grayson, Jack, Landon, Anders, and Kellen—knew him as the fun uncle who showed up, celebrated milestones, spoiled them whenever possible, and loved each of them fiercely.

One of the greatest blessings of Todd’s life was finding his soulmate, Tammy, in the summer of 2017. Their love story was one that family and friends celebrated alongside them. After six wonderful years together, they were married in Cabo San Lucas in a beautiful celebration surrounded by those they loved. Together they built a home that reflected everything they valued: laughter, music, traditions, hospitality, and love. Halloween and Christmas transformed their home into something magical, and every gathering became a memory people looked forward to all year.

Todd embraced life with contagious enthusiasm. He loved traveling the world, scuba diving, skiing, golfing, live music, dancing, and cheering on the Cougars and Seahawks every fall. Fantasy football season brought plenty of spirited competition among family, and no gathering was complete without Todd’s storytelling, infectious laugh, unforgettable smile, and favorite expressions or inside jokes.

When Todd was diagnosed with cancer, the news came as a devastating shock. Healthy, active, and working out nearly every day, he approached the diagnosis the same way he approached every challenge—with courage, optimism, patience, and remarkable grace. Even as his illness progressed, he remained focused on others. He welcomed visitors with hugs, laughter, stories, and heartfelt conversations. Even while facing his own mortality, he continued asking everyone else how they were doing.

One of Todd’s final goals became attending Brady’s high school graduation. Though incredibly difficult, he accomplished it, creating one more priceless memory with the son he adored.

In his final weeks, Todd thoughtfully prepared his family as much as he could. He organized his wishes, spent meaningful one-on-one time with those he loved, and demonstrated the same strength, compassion, and selflessness that had defined his entire life.

Todd was preceded in death by his grandparents Curtis and Hazel, and George and Louise; his Uncle Curtis Jr., and his beloved dog, Cabo.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Ludwig; his children, Brady, Ava, and Maeve; his mother, Brenda Lindstrum (Al); his father, Richard Ludwig (Ingela); his brother, Bryan Ludwig (Anna); his sister, Elizabeth VerHoeven (Chad) and several siblings by marriage, his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, lifelong friends, and countless colleagues whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.

Todd measured his life not by possessions or titles, but by relationships. He believed in showing up, making memories, celebrating life’s moments, and loving people well. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friends he cherished, the people he mentored, and every life made brighter by his presence.

Family and friends will honor Todd’s memory with a private Memorial Service and Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 1, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Esophageal Cancer Awareness

Association, supporting research, education, and families affected by esophageal cancer, or Hawaii Wildlife Fund, helping protect and preserve the oceans he loved.

Though his time with us was far too short, Todd truly lived. And those fortunate enough to have loved him will carry his laughter, generosity, stories, traditions, and boundless love with them always.
