Vincent Lance Armstrong

August 29, 1957 — January 3, 2024

Held by family, Vincent Lance Armstrong entered the presence of the Lord, January 3, 2024.

Vince was born August 29, 1957 to Vernon and Anita (Hansen) Armstrong at Camp Pendleton, California. He spent much of his childhood on Okinawa where he and his brother and sisters truly lived the life of a storybook adventure. In 1968, his family moved to a home built by his great grandfather on Bainbridge Island.

Vince graduated from Bainbridge Island High School in 1975 where he participated in football and track. Upon graduation at age 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served for three years. After attending Olympic College and Seattle University, Vince lived and worked in Kitsap County.

In 1985, Vince married Susan MacVane and they were blessed with four children. Together, Vince and Susan built their family home on Bainbridge Island where they resided for over 30 years. Their home provided endless projects and gave him many headaches but much satisfaction and joy.

An avid reader, Vince completed multiple books each week. He enjoyed books on nature, animals, history, heroic accounts of war, human nature and everything in between. He was often waiting for the library to add new books and his broad knowledge made for interesting conversations.

Although Vince had traveled much of the world, his heart was truly at home. His most contented times were spent conversing and having fun with his children. The attention, time and knowledge he shared with them was often thought-provoking and usually humorous.

Vince was predeceased by his parents and his brother Dan. He is survived by his wife; his children, Grace Elizabeth Armstrong (Alex VanDeMark), Dane Thomas Armstrong, Lance Cameron Armstrong, Troy Vincent Armstrong; and his sisters, Laurel Parker (Lyle), Deborah Sweitzer and Brenda Meyer (Mark).

The loss of Vince to his family is profound. He truly loved and was loved. Vince will be forever in their hearts.
