Virginia E. Abell-Clayton blessed many people throughout her life. She was a caring wife, loving mother, fun grandmother, aunt, sister, friend and mentor to many. Virginia, 96, passed peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on November 19, 2022.
Virginia was born in Seattle, Washington in 1926. She and her siblings, Mel and Myrna born to Luther and Jenny Mae Coates lived and grew up together in Seattle Washington. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1944. She worked at Boeing prior to marrying Clarence (Tim) Abell. They were happily married for 54 years until Tim died in 2001. They had five children together Timothy (deceased), Cathleen (Steven), Gregory (Kathleen), Janice (Bruce, deceased) and Beth (Joe).
Virginia married John M. Clayton in 2007 and they were happily married for 15 years.
Virginia had an enormous faith in God and was a member and involved in many churches throughout her life. She had a positive impact on, and mentored many women involved in small group bible studies.
Virginia had a beautiful singing voice and used that gift to bless others. She was a member of many church choirs, and a soloist in her younger years. She sang with the University Presbyterian Church Cathedral choir for over 30 years.
Virginia shared her home and used her gift of Hospitality to bless numerous people, organizations, and the community.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, her first husband, oldest son, a son in law and a grandson. She is survived by her second husband, four of her children, two stepchildren, 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and extended family.
A memorial service is being planned for Virginia on Sunday, January 29th at 2:00 at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle.
