Virginia "Ginny" Knittel

July 31, 1955 — August 18, 2019

Virginia "Ginny" Gail (Jorgenson) Knittel, 64, of Belfair, Washington, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Harrison Hospital in Bremerton, Washington surrounded by friends and family.

Ginny was born to Janice Ann and George Kenneth "Ken" Jorgenson on July 31, 1955 in Olympia, WA. She was the first of four children to Ken and Jan. She attended Timberline High School and graduated in June of 1973. After high school she studied nursing at Olympia Technical Community College and graduated as an LPN in 1974.

She was working at Group Health Cooperative when a coworker introduced her to a young Washington State Patrol Trooper, Merlin "Mel" Knittel. After a three-month whirlwind romance, Mel and Ginny were married on June 30, 1978.

One year later they welcomed a daughter to their family, Heather Rae. In 1982 they welcomed their son, Andrew Ray.

She was a mom to many children, while her kids were growing up, and many would seek her advice. Ginny was a member of the North Mason Lions Club and volunteered many hours taking orders at their lunch truck, raising funds for the North Mason Giving Tree and scholarships for North Mason High School students. She was a faithful woman who loved hard and will be greatly missed. Ginny had a deep faith in God and cherished her church community.

Ginny is survived by her husband Mel, her children Heather (Adam) Davis and Andrew (Angela) Knittel, her three grandchildren: Deborah Gail, Joseph and Sydney, her mother Janice, her siblings Mark (Kim) Jorgenson, Dave (Monica) Jorgenson and Karen Raines, and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, August 24th at North Mason Bible Church on E Campus Drive in Belfair, WA.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island
