was born September 28, 1920 in Elmira, New York to Dora and Grant Robyler.She graduated from Troy High School in 1937 and attended nursing school nearby. She moved to Canton, Ohio and worked briefly at Timken Roller Bearing where she met Lawrence (Pete) Morgan. They both joined the U.S. Navy and were married April 12, 1945, while on leave in Boston. The couple lived in Ohio, South Carolina, and California, before moving to Bainbridge Island in 1965. They had six children.Virginia joined the Bainbridge First Baptist Church in 1966, where she was the pianist for more than 30 years. For a few years, she was playground attendant at Captain Wilkes Elementary School and worked the front desk at the Bainbridge Chamber of Commerce. She was an active member of the Bainbridge Island Senior Center since 1986.She is survived by five of her children; William (Bill) Morgan currently of the Philippines, Lawrence (Larry) Morgan of Port Orchard, Kathy (Kathleen) Morgan of Seattle, Brenda Levengood of Poulsbo, Patricia (Patty) Heidemann of Bethesda, MD, 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Morgan, who passed in 1988 and an infant son, Phillip, who passed in 1960.A wonderful Christian lady, Virginia loved the Lord Jesus and her family, which included her church family and her family at the senior center. She loved to feed the chickens at the nearby co-op, she loved to take walks, she loved going to the beach to pick up rocks, she loved the sun on her face and she loved to watch baseball on television. Virginia also loved music and playing the piano. She liked to visit the Bainbridge Convalescent Center and play the piano for the residents. A gentle, sweet person, with great strength, Virginia will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She took great, loving care of her family and we thank God that she was a part of our lives.In Virginia's memory, you can make donations to the Bainbridge First Baptist Church, the Bainbridge Island Senior Center, or send flowers for her service. Please do what you feel moved to do in her memory.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM at The First Baptist Church of Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow at the church. Private interment will take place at Kane Cemetery on the Island.
