Wayne J. Hill

After a full, active and happy life, Wayne J. Hill passed away suddenly of a heart attack on Dec 27, 2019.
Wayne was born in Seattle on Oct 16, 1941 to Lee & Eileen Hill. He was the youngest of 3 sons. A lifelong resident of the Seattle area, Wayne was an active part of his community and always lent a hand to those around him.
In the 1950’s, Wayne made lifelong friends at Bothell High School. He learned to love all kinds of music, but LOVED Country!!! He even played drums in a band.
In the 1960’s he served his country honorably in the US Army in Alaska. Wayne met a “car hop” in Lake City named Sandy. He married her in ‘68 and they started a family
The 1970’s brought Wayne to Safeco Insurance where met a new best friend named Gary, who ended up as his brother-in-law. Wayne spent the 70’s working hard for his family and included family in his sporting interests. His baseball games were a joy for the whole family. In the 1980’s, Wayne worked for the City of Seattle before starting his own consulting firm. He also discovered a passion for running. Wayne attended his daughters sporting events, dance recitals, theater performances and even coached their sports teams.
1990’s, Wayne traveled with his consulting business, but enjoyed coming home each weekend to his beautiful home on Camano Island. Much to the delight of his friends, he started the Neon Pig bbq event on the island to showcase his love for BBQ. He became a grandfather to the first of his 5 grandchildren, as well. In the 2000’s, Wayne’s lifelong love of “the thunderboats” brought him to the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum as a volunteer, and he served on board of directors, as well. He loved being involved with restoring vintage boats and made a number of friends through the Museum.
Wayne and Sandy enjoyed traveling with friends and family. Wayne celebrated every occassion and the ‘big ones’ usually meant a trip somewhere! Austrailia, Tahiti, Mexico, Hawaii and his life long dream of going to Ireland was fulfilled on his 50th wedding anniversarary.
2010’s, Wayne “retired” but found joy in serving others at the University House Wallingford. He LOVED going to work and came to know and love many of the wonderful residents. He and his wife moved to Bainbridge Island to be closer to family and their beloved grandchildren. He loved “island life” and enjoyed commuting into the city on his scooter.
Wayne is survived by his wife Sandy and his family: Jeannie, Joslin & JennaVeive Keim, Julia, Chris, Vega, Vaughn & Vivica (Poppi) Jolley, Leslie Parker and Robin & Carol Hill

Open House Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 8, 2020. Please drop in to share a memory between 1:30-4:00
