Zachary Raymond-Becker

October 18, 1988 — October 20, 2025

Zachary Raymond-Becker lost his battle with schizophrenia on October 20, just two days after his 37th birthday. But before the last difficult years of illness, Zach had another life that friends and family remember. He grew up a loving son and older brother in a family of four active boys, who were drawn to engines and cars, BMX biking, and skiing. He spent those happy childhood years on Bainbridge Island among the trees, just blocks from the beach. He was inseparable from his close circle of friends, with cousins close by and a supportive community around him.

Zach loved anything mechanical and figuring out how things worked. After high school, he went on to Flagstaff to earn an Environmental Engineering degree from Northern Arizona University before returning to the Pacific Northwest. He held a variety of jobs in fisheries, the Department of Transportation, railroad bridge inspection, and software engineering.

Friends and family will always remember Zach’s big smile and enthusiasm for life. He was creative and generous, and he liked to give gifts. He had a sociable nature, always drawn to music and parties. He entertained those around him with his one-liners and dry sense of humor.

Zach also had an original, sometimes zany mind and enjoyed pushing the limits in concepts. He loved rousing debates around the firepit or the kitchen table. His persistence in pressing his point could be exasperating, but more than once, listeners were surprised later to find the truth in what he was saying.

Zach is survived by his parents, Tina Raymond and Roger Becker (Whitney); his brothers Francis, Dylan (Shannon), and Cooper; his nephews Rowen and Oliver; his aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his enduring friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on November 15 at 2:00 p.m. in Poulsbo. Please reach out to family members for details.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cook Family Funeral Home of Bainbridge Island, WA
